When we have children, it is so we can enjoy them for our whole lives. When God has children, it is so He can enjoy them for His whole life – that’s forever.
Jesus, being the exact representation of the Father, willingly gave up His life for ours. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross. Having each and every one of us safe and loved in the presence of Our Father in Heaven for all eternity was the joy that gave Jesus the ability to endure the cross for our sins.
When the Father gave up what He cherished most, His Son, how can we not expect miracles, signs, and wonders? If He did not spare His own Son, but freely gave Him up for us all, how much more will He give us all things? (Rom. 8:32)
Jesus died to save us for our whole eternity. In contrast, the stripes upon His back were to heal us so we can enjoy our very short life here. If securing our eternity was of the greatest importance and gave up His very life for it, then healing for our present life is like holding thimble of water at the shore of the vast ocean of His love. It is small in comparison and He is happy to give it.
To not expect miracles when we preach the gospel, is like going to the bank with a check and not expecting any money. We get what He paid for – A signs following Gospel of Love in the name of Jesus through the Power of the Holy Spirit! Hallelujah!
